As part of the measures to ease the community back out of lockdown Aylsham Town Council are working with Broadland District Council on their ‘Shop With Confidence’ programme. Also involved are Highways at Norfolk County Council and Aylsham Traders through ABEF.
The opening of non-essential retail begins on Monday June 15th and as part of this Aylsham town centre will look a little different. Full details of the changes are in the attached Aylsham reopening leaflet.
This leaflet details all the changes made so far but to highlight some of them.
- Red Lion Street – this will be one-way from Monday June 15th in the direction North to South (i.e. from Cromer)
- Penfold Street – barriers have been placed to create a footway which means single file traffic with priority to those coming from the Market Place
- Various barriers will be put in place to widen the footpaths.
- Sanitiser units have been placed in various locations throughout the town
These changes are primarily for public safety to allow for social distancing and are temporary and will be kept under review.
