What does SAM 2 stand for – A mobile Speed Awareness Message, (SAM2). The unit flashes up vehicle speeds, and a warning to ‘slow down’ if they are exceeding the limit. This helps to raise speed awareness among drivers.
Aylsham Town Council purchased a speed awareness system towards the later part of 2016. This is to help encourage and make vehicle users aware of the speed limits around Aylsham. The unit is positioned on various roads in and around the town, and is there for up to 4 weeks gathering data before it is moved to another spot. The data collected from the units by the Town council is reviewed and passed to the local policing constabulary.
