Norfolk County Council are looking at the feasibility of creating Greenways across Norfolk to link into our wider Norfolk Trails network of promoted walking and cycling trails. The initial feasibility is focused on the track beds from the disused railway network and other underused sections of our transport network. The outcome from this feasibility will be routes that connect the communities that previous were linked by the railway network and also improve the connectivity of our green infrastructure.
Working with the UEA they will conduction a valuation of the benefits these potential routes can bring looking at the economic, social, health and environmental factors. We will also be looking at infrastructure design that allows all abilities the opportunity to access these routes to ensure they can be enjoyed by everybody.
The initial detailed feasibility study is being conducted on 3 former disused railways;
- Weavers’ Way (Aylsham to Stalham),
- King’s Lynn to Fakenham
- King’s Lynn to Hunstanton.
